Barzani says Kurdistan ready to develop ties with Canada

July 13, 2010 - 05:55:25

ARBIL / Aswat al-Iraq: President of Iraq’s Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani, praised on Tuesday efforts made by the Canadian ambassador to Iraq in developing relations with Kurdistan, expressing the region’s readiness to develop and expand these relations, according to a presidential statement.
“President Barzani received on Tuesday (July 13) at the Salah el-Din resort the Canadian Ambassador to Iraq Margaret Huber, with whom he discussed ways of boosting bilateral relations in various domains, mainly in political and economic fields,” said the statement received by Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
The ambassador expressed her country’s readiness to cooperate with Kurdistan in cultural and educational fields too.
The ambassador had met yesterday (July 12) with the region’s Prime Minister Barham Saleh and discussed with him bilateral ties.
