BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Kuwaiti Oil Minister Sheikh Ahmad al-Abdullah said that Kuwait and Iraq have reached an initial agreement to share production of border oilfields,
“The Kuwaiti side has already signed the agreement, which will be signed by the Iraqi authorities in the coming days,” Kuwaiti al-Qabas newspaper quoted the minister as saying.
The minister said the agreement called for an international oil company to drill for oil in those fields for both countries, adding no company had been chosen yet.
He said both countries had agreed on the pact in principle. “We have signed it from Kuwait’s side. Iraqis will be signing it maybe this week or next week,” he said.
