BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Following is a summary of news reports posted until 04:00 p.m. Baghdad local time Friday – March 26:

*Politics:

BAGHDAD - The preliminary results of the parliamentary elections will be announced at 7:00pm on Friday, according to the head of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC).

MISSAN - Hundreds of people who support the State of Law (Dawlat al-Qanoon) Alliance demonstrated on Friday in central Amara city demanding to manually recount votes, and not urgently announce voting results of Iraq’s parliamentary election.

BAGHDAD - Iraq Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari stressed on Iraq’s right to host the coming Arab summit in accordance with the decision of the last year’s Doha summit.

BAGHDAD - Four blocs that participated in Iraq’s recent parliamentary election announced on Friday that they reject the results that will be announced later in the day.

*Security:

BAGHDAD - Iraqi Defence Ministry said on Friday that three wanted terrorists were arrested in northern Baghdad.

WASSIT - Security authorities in Wassit have started adopting tight security measures as of today until forming the new Iraqi government, a security source said on Friday.

ANBAR - One Iraqi soldier was killed and two more were wounded in a bomb explosion in eastern Falluja, a police source said on Friday.

BASRA - Police forces arrested on Friday 12 wanted men during security raids in Basra, a security source said.

*Economy:

BAGHDAD - Iraq may renegotiate with Shell on the agreed shares to invest gas in Basra, according to the spokesman for the oil ministry.

BAGHDAD - The Central Bank of Iraq (CBI) dollar sales this week reached $765 million at a stable exchange rate of 1,170 Iraqi dinars per dollar, through holding four our of five sessions as the bank canceled its Sunday session because of the Norouz feast.

BAGHDAD - The Iraqi Stock Exchange (ISX) index this week went down this week to register 94.8 points with trading worth 3.4 billions Iraqi dinars.

BAGHDAD - A French firm is at the final stages to finish the rehabilitation of dock-4 in Umm Qasr Port, Basra province.
