BAGHDAD (AP) – The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said the coming months is a critical period for Iraq because of the high pace of negotiations to form a new government.
In his report to the Security Council on the activities of the United Nations Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) said Ban Ki-moon that the length of the process of forming the government would not serve the interests of the Iraqi people, urging political leaders to “move fast and work together in a spirit of national unity to build a government a coherent, comprehensive and secure a peaceful transition. ”
Moon stressed that “These are the responsibilities that come with democracy and are the responsibility of all political entities, especially those which obtained the largest number of seats in recent elections.”
As Ban Ki-moon called on Iraq to implement all remaining obligations under Security Council resolutions, in particular relating to the file of missing Kuwaitis and Kuwaiti property before he was subject to Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations
