President Talabani receives US vice-President Biden

Iraqi President Jalal Talabani received the US vice-President Joseph Biden in Baghdad City on Tuesday August 31, 2010.
They discussed the withdrawal of the American combat units and exchanging the duty of the remaining forces until the full withdrawal from Iraq, the political developments in Iraq, especially the current negotiations to form the government, the ways of reaching a unified vision for the participation of all the Iraqi political parties in the government, as well as the bilateral relations between Iraq and US.
Both sides emphasized the necessity of activating the signed agreements between Iraq and US in all the fields to serve the interests of both friendly people.
President Talabani renewed the Iraqi people and government thanks for the US army sacrifices in Iraq. He emphasized that all the political blocs are working to form a national partnership government that includes all the Iraqi constituents and said “there are real and serious negotiations between the political blocs to form the government.”
Talabani highlighted the necessity of developing Iraqi-American relations and the rebuilding Iraq with the participation of the American companies.
For his part, VP Biden conveyed President Obama’s greetings to President Talabani.
Biden explained the withdrawal of the American combat units and mentioned that the US is willing to build strong relations with Iraq by saying “the US is willing to build a long-range relation with Iraq for the interests of both countries.”
He expressed his hopes that the Iraqis will form their government and will overtake all the obstacles that face this issue. He mentioned that the government will play a major role in stabilizing Iraq.
Biden praised President Talabani’s efforts in unifying all the Iraqi constituents through standing in a one distance from all the political blocs and parties.
