BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: Iraq’s Vice President, Adel Abdulmahdi, will veto some articles of the general budget and will return them to the parliament, a lawmaker said on Tuesday.
“Abdulmahdi will veto some of the budget’s articles and will bring them back to the Parliament,” Omar al-Hiejil told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“It’s difficult to hold a session now to discuss the budget and to vote on it within the current parliamentary conditions,” he added.
“Finance minister had said that he will announce the budget at the third month of the year and there is no need speed up the approval of the budget as the salaries have been released with a 20% of investments,” he said.
The 2010 budget had sparked a wide-scale political hubbub amidst parliamentary circles as some blocs linked its passing to the election conduction law that trims the government’s powers.
