BAGHDAD / Aswat al-Iraq: The Iraqi Political Council for National Security could have a meeting tomorrow, the official spokesperson of Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance said on Tuesday.

“The meeting will discuss the election results, and methods to accelerate the issue of forming a new Iraqi government,” Hachim al-Hassani told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the political folder and the country’s general condition might be discussed during the meeting.

Tomorrow’s meeting of the Iraqi Political Council for National Security is important because it represents the roundtable meeting of blocs that won the election, according to a Kurdish politician.

“The meeting will embrace the four authorities, in addition to the heads of political parties and blocs,” Mohsin al-Saadon, a prominent member of the Kurdistan Alliance, told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He described the meeting as representative of the entire political arena in Iraq.

“The meeting is important under the current political tension in Iraq,” al-Saadon noted.

He pointed out that all the political powers that will attend this meeting will seek a solution for the situation in Iraq.

The Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) have overcome all the obstacles that face the issue of forming a mutual coalition.

“We have agreed to announce the new coalition,” Hachim al-Hassani told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

He noted that the new coalition will be the biggest bloc in Iraq’s new Parliament.

“Discussions between the two parties will continue regarding mechanisms to select the new prime minister of Iraq,” al-Hassani explained.

Earlier, a member of the Al-Iraqiya Alliance said that a big Shiite coalition that embraces Dawlat al-Qanoon Alliance and the Iraqi National Alliance (INA) is a return to sectarianism in Iraq,

“Although we have doubts it will happen soon, we believe that such a coalition will return the country to sectarianism,” Faiza al-Obaidee told the press.

She stressed that Al-Iraqiya has a constitutional right to form the new Iraqi government.

“Al-Iraqiya will announce its stance regarding these issues as soon as the election results are approved,” al-Obaidee noted.
