A source close to ongoing negotiations between the state of law and led by al-Maliki-led Iraqi Allawi told the leaders that a recent state law, a coalition official “refusal” to Maliki’s nomination for a second term.
The source, who declined to be named to the reporter (and the Iraqi News Agency Information / INA), “The leaders of the Iraqi List, headed by Dr. Ayad Allawi, had informed the coalition of the state of law” officially “Maliki’s refusal to stand for a second term.”
The source said talks between the two lists stopped at this point, noting that the Iraqi List coalition required to accept the rule of law naming Allawi’s candidate for prime minister to return to the dialogue again.
The source noted that “a formal meeting was scheduled to be held yesterday morning for the leaders of the Dawa Party, to discuss the nomination of an alternative personal Nuri al-Maliki as prime minister and attended by most of the leaders of the party, but was canceled at the last minute not to attend al-Maliki.”
