SLC: “We have historical relations with the Kurds and we’ll resolve the governme
Monday, August 9th 2010
Baghdad, Aug.9 (AKnews) – A member in State of Law Coalition (SLC) said on Monday that the relations with the Kurds is historical and the visit of Nouri al-Maliki, the head of SLC, denied the claims of some blocs according to which the Kurds have red lines against Maliki’s nomination for Prime Minister.
“Maliki’s visit to Kurdistan Region denied the claims of some political blocs about the opposition of the Kurds to Maliki’s second term, especially in the light of the historical relations between the two parties,” said Kamal al-Saedi.
“The joint agenda of Kurdistan Blocs Coalition (KBC) will encourage the political blocs to offer concessions about the formation of the government… KBC accepts Maliki’s nomination given the deep relations between the two parties.”
The outgoing PM Nouri al-Maliki arrived on Sunday to Erbil, the capital of Kurdistan Region, and discussed with the region’s President Massoud Barzani the government crisis.
“Some regional countries have aims and targets in Iraq and they seek to achieve them by increasing the crisis Iraq is witnessing”, Saedi outlined.
The Kurdish delegation started last month direct talks in Baghdad with al-Iraqiya, the State of Law bloc, and the Iraqi National Alliance, in order to reach an agreement about the formation of the next government, and to take written guarantees about the implementation of Article 140 of the constitution, the presidency post, doing the census, and resolving the oil crisis and Peshmarga issues.
