GCC foreign ministers hoped Tuesday parliamentary elections in Iraq would bring about success to the political process, while urging Iraq and UN to double efforts to determine fate of Kuwaiti prisoners and missing, and return of Kuwaiti properties and national archive.
In a statement following their one-day meeting, the top diplomats hoped the legislative elections would pave way for an inclusive national conciliation in Iraq.
Condemning the recent bombings in Iraq, the foreign ministers reiterated support to the unity, independence, sovereignty and regional safety of Iraq, as well as non-interference in its internal affairs, said the statement.
They called on Iraq to fully comply with UN resolutions, and urged the UN and Iraq to double efforts to determine fate of prisoners and missings of Kuwait and third-country nationals, as well as the return of properties and national archives of the State of Kuwait.
The one-day meeting was chaired by Kuwait’s deputy Premier and foreign minister Sheikh Dr. Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.
