United Nations demands that Iraq continue to pay compensation to Kuwait

BAGHDAD (AP) – UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, Iraq would “continue to pay the five per cent of oil revenues to the Compensation Fund of Kuwait, even if the new arrangements for the Development Fund for Iraq.”
Moon said in a quarterly report first to the Security Council for new arrangements for the Development Fund for Iraq, “if the government does not approve the Iraqi Governing Council of the Compensation Commission of the United Nations jointly to change the ratio or the completion of such adjustments, it will have to continue in Iraq to pay five per cent of oil revenues to the Compensation Fund. ”
Moon said the need to ensure “the continuation of the current machinery, approval effective alternative mechanism itself, guarantee the repayment of money owed to the Compensation Fund established by the Council to compensate victims of Iraqi troops entered Kuwait in 1990.” /
