Biden: Iraq drawdown on schedule despite politics
WASHINGTON (AP) — Vice President Joe Biden says the lengthy negotiations in the Iraqi government on power-sharing should not affect the scheduled withdrawal of U.S. troops.
Biden tells ABC's "This Week" that those negotiations shouldn't prevent the U.S. from meeting its goals of ending the combat mission in August and reducing the number of troops to 50,000.
Biden says there is a functioning Iraqi government and that Iraqis are providing their own security, with U.S. help.
