March 26, 2010
The U.N. nuclear watchdog agency recommended Friday to the Security Council that restrictions on Iraqi nuclear research be lifted.
The International Atomic Energy Agency praised Iraqi's cooperation with investigations into its nuclear program, KUNA, the Kuwait News Agency, reported.
"The International Atomic Energy Agency has been receiving excellent cooperation from Iraq in the implementation of its comprehensive safeguards
agreement, thus allowing IAEA to effectively and efficiently conduct its safeguards activities," IAEA Chief Yukiya Amano said in a letter to the council.
The Iraqi government supports the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and other disarmament pacts, Amano said.
